Best trip of our lives!

My mom and I decided to take the trip of our lifetimes this past September, just one year after my dad passed away. He was a huge Sound of Music fan, and absolutely would have loved Salzburg, where we started our trip! We were able to visit the beautiful town of Hallstatt, which is a scenic, 2 hour bus ride away. And also got to explore the neighboring town of Berchtesgaden, which included a trip to the Eagle’s Nest as well as the salt mines under the mountain, topped off with a nature walk around Lake Konigssee. All before even meeting our group! Through these amazing photos I took from Salzburg, to the northern Italian town of Castelrotto, high up in the Dolomites, up to the medieval castles of Fussen Germany, down into the snow peaked fairytale mountains of Switzerland, and then ending the tour at my favorite destination of them all, in Chamonix France. I hope you will come along with me on this photo adventure and book a Rick Steve’s My Way tour through the Alps of your own!!! It was unforgettable… Visit this trip at:

Let’s start off in the beautiful Baroque city of Salzburg, which has some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet; the best food you’ll ever eat; and the most history on the street! I could spend all day staring at the artwork inside and outside of the cathedrals and looking at all the amazing architecture around this classic city…

Queen Elizabeth II died one day before we left for what would be my first trip to Europe. So it was quite the experience seeing how different countries reacted to the news. In Salzburg they set off cannons from the top of Hohensalzburg Fortress! Pretty cool to witness…

Hotel Hofwirt was not only the most comfortable hotel I’ve ever stayed in, but also the staff is super friendly and makes you feel right at home. Don’t forget to get down for breakfast at 7am and enjoy the eggs and ham!

Of course we had to climb to the top of Hohensalzburg Fortress, which is a must if you want this breathtaking view of Salzburg and grab lunch and a beer while exploring the fortress!
